Ride Quality Analysis

APR uses the Ride Quality Analysis in two ways; to assess the airfield pavement, be it runway or taxiway, for pavement management purposes and to investigate pavement roughness. The aircraft ride quality analysis is a two-part process that identifies areas of pavement that generate poor aircraft ride. While ride quality is important, to APR it’s just one indicator of a problem with the pavement; whether it’s a poor pavement condition or if it’s a problem with the runway’s grade creating long wavelength bumps and dips causing the aircraft to respond poorly.  What ever the cause, APR's ride quality analysis will identify it.

The two-step process involves profile measurement of the runway using a device that is capable of measuring the pavement’s true profile – measuring all grade changes associated with the pavement.  Following the profile measurement, APR applies its technology of aircraft simulation and straightedge analysis tools to thoroughly assess the runway’s measured profile.
